Principal Mitchem makes the case for school choice
Are you in support or against school choice? During contract negotiations, who's there to represent the children and the taxpayer? The teachers union? The school board (some are politicians)? Lets talk.
I support and want the voucher system in Illinois and I hope this law passes before my children graduate from Pioneer. I cringe at the thought of sending them to middle school and high school in 365. I thought Ms Crenshaw wrote one of the best posts I have read in a very long time
Mitchem has been wanting to enact this program for over two years. The problem is that he will pass kids based off test scores not work done or attendance. So when these kids get to college and have a paper due, but dont turn it in or show to class on time, and try to convince the instructor to pass them because they know their subject matter... they will only be laughed at. Now imagine this same kid that is now an adult working a job and the boss asks them to do something for them. The kid, now adult, will say, "I dont have to write it down or type it in because it is all in my head." It is a bad joke catering towards Gen Next laziness. I want my kid to learn that he or she HAS to comply with rules, work hard, how up for work on time and not skate by because they can "demonstrate" basic knowledge if they are asked. However, I can see why he would want this. This would raise the test scores of the school making him look better. Not that the kids are better, just that they "look" better.
